Puno - Uros (Floating Islands) & Taquile
Puno
From Arequipa a 6 hour busride takes us to Puno on the 24th of Novembre. Puno is located at lake Titikaka which is at 3810m. There's not much in the city, but after recommandations of other travellers we decided to take a tour to the 'Floating Islands'.
Uros (Floating Islands) & Taquile The Floating Islands are artificial islands on the Titikaka made out of reed. These islands are extremely touristic but very impressive. The islands float on the roots of a certain reed that grows in the lake, and the layers of reed are renewed every month because the lower layers slowly rot away. We took a traditional little boat made out of reed to get from island to another. In the afternoon we went to a natural island called Taquile. Here we had lunch in a family house. As a surprise they performed a traditional dance, and Nikè was invited to dance along! On the 26th we took a bus to the other side of the lake to Copacabana, Bolivia. Byebye Peru!
